American rescue efforts have failed in recovery of the Serenity VIII, which disappeared two days ago in the infamous Bermuda Triangle.  The military dispatches which combed the “Hot Zone” discovered no traces of the missing cruise ship or the U.S. Coast Guard patrol ships from the initial rescue effort.  After extensive searching, the majority of the search team was recalled, leaving two navy ships behind to scout the area for signs of anything out of the ordinary.  Three hours later, a distress call was received from the deployment regarding “odd weather conditions, possibly a severe storm rushing in” and once again the lines went dead and the ships have gone missing.

The President of the United States has declared a state of national emergency and has restricted any naval or air travel in that region.  “We will not rest until this mystery is solved.  We will not give up.  We will regain control of our oceans.”  Though not verified, some sources say that the U.S. President is planning a science-based exploration under military supervision.

When questioned regarding the findings of the daytime search team, one officer said, “Everything was normal.  There were clear, blue skies and everything was peaceful.  The sonar showed no wreckage on the ocean floor.  The only oddity in the area was a ULF signal around 9 Hertz.  Other than that, it could’ve been a pleasure cruise.  Forgive the analogy.”

Perhaps the Bermuda Triangle has not been a myth.  Fanatics of metaphysics and unexplained phenomena have been coming out of the woodwork with not a subtle, “I told you so.”  Will the U.S. solve this mystery on their own, or will they employ the help of countries around the world?  Much remains to be seen as these strange and unfortunate events unfold.

Last night at 03:24 GMT, the Serenity VIII, a cruise ship belonging to Serenity Cruise Lines, Inc. vanished.  The ship reported its last known location to be approximately 75 miles east of Miami, FL, its departure point.  Serenity VIII carried 283 passengers on its voyage, a vacation from which they may not return.

Upon hearing the distressed Captain Ray Harrelson’s radio transmission, the US Coast Guard deployed 5 patrol ships to investigate the incident and provide assistance if needed.  The patrol was dispatched at 04:02 GMT, and none of the patrol returned.  Radio contact was lost near the same point as the Serenity VIII began to have difficulties, and the missing person count was brought to 293. 

When questioned about possible causes of the incident George McKewan, president of Serenity Cruise Lines said, “This is a terrible happening, which we are using all our resources to investigate.  I would like to assure the public that we take every precaution in inspecting and maintaining our vessals at Serentiy Cruise Lines.  My heart goes out to the loved ones of the passengers of the Serenity VIII.  I think the most important thing is that no one gives up hope because we really don’t know what happened yet.”

The President of the United States issued a formal press statement saying, “We will find the answer to this mystery, and most importantly we will bring our people home if they are out there.  Search and rescue operations are currently being organized and will be underway very shortly.”

An anonymous source said that while the radio transmissions from the Serenity VIII were garbled and mostly unintelligible, they distinctly heard something about “strange lights” before radio contact was lost.
